August 2009 - Chapter 72 Meeting

August was a busy month with the chapter meeting including AGM and the Annual Auction. A new Committee was appointed with Lindsay Bramall as President for his second term with vice presidents Peter Ekins and Doug Minty. Noel Lipsombe who was applauded for his 20 years service as club Treasurer stepped down from the position he has trustfully served.

The meeting topic was the use of radium on clock hands and dials where the radiation caused deaths of workers. There are new products on the market now.

The Auction was another resounding success with Doug Minty knocking down about 700 lots in quick smart time, the whole operation going like ... clockwork. He managed to move 134 400-day clocks, the most we have seen at an auction. Prices for everything were buoyant.
