March 2007 Workshop
The workshop was attended by about 20 members and was another great day. Everybody learns something by bringing their clocks along and getting involved in the fun of analysing their particular mechanisms. The topic covered striking and chiming mechanisms and how they work. Common faults were uncovered and ways to fix discussed. Attendees find out a lot more about their clocks than they thought possible, including marriages of convenience, substitute parts etc. Every workshop is a font of learning, not to be missed. Thanks to Doug Minty, Roger Little and special guest speaker Alex Rodgers who dealt with the very important topic of Occupational Health and Safety in the Workshop. Please obtain and read the Material Safety Data Sheet on the chemical you use to clean, polish or handle clocks - your health is dependant on understanding the hazards involved. Alex proved to himself by adopting safe procedures, your health and quality of life improves.
