Who would believe that a group of people could discuss a simple
timepiece clock for over 30 meetings since 168's Sydney members got together
5 years ago. In fact we are going from strength to strength!
Maybe it's the food. Twenty of us enjoyed the "art deco" theme of the
evening and the "show and tell" interaction. If you have any questions
about the clocks on this page please send them to fixoclock*yahoo.co.uk
and replace the * with @ to stop net scavengers. Questions about these
clocks are welcomed. Click on the pictures for a larger view of the meeting

5 years of fun is worth celebrating, nothing fancy, just a lot of
camaraderie and sharing of knowledge and interest. It never
ceases to amaze us how much there is to learn about 400-day clocks. |

The "crystal regulator" style case "Made in Germany" serial 110087 possibly
1913 has had the "brasso" treatment, but still a very desirable clock most
likely made by Jahreshurenfabrik(JUF) |

The Art Deco period (1909 - 1939) influenced 400-day clock design, firstly
by using 'more modern" looking numerals with the conventional round dial.
Then octagonal and square dials started appearing in new designs. |

 |
 |
 |
Chrome plated clocks - sometimes including the complete movement appeared.
New shapes for the "balls" were tried. Colours were introduced,
sometimes subtle, sometimes shocking, like the red JUF. |

OK, when did innovation in 400 day clocks stop? Take a look at these 2
Japanese "Master" clocks. It was all about capturing a market or
customer. The Master on the right is plastic except the dome which is glass. |

The "sputnik" clock was bought at the last Chapter 72 auction and
temporarily restored with a paper dial since the original silvered dial was
in poor shape. Huber Uhren? C1913. link to Badische and Kienzle?
Mysteries. |

Another JUF? Lovely sun crest, fat pendulum, Plate 1009? Lastly the
wall clock with compensated pendulum, this view showing the movement.
