December 2001 Chapter Meeting, Richard Fawdry, Lionel Ansselin, Lindsay Bramall, Joy Percival, Carla Bosch, Trevor Cunningham (who received his 20 year badge this meeting) The meeting covered the difference between timepieces, striking and chiming clocks, concentrating on grand sonnerie of which these are examples
A French clock with an unusual Garnier escapement was talked about at show and tell Jean Paul Garnier (1801-69), pupil of Antide Janvier, commenced business in 1825 in Paris.
In 1830 he took out a patent for a frictional rest escapement available to clocks and watches. This is an example Carl Sona wrote an article on a Zenith movement with a paddle wheel escapement. This is the clock. You never know what you will find inside one of these
Lindsay Bramall has a Chapter 168 display at our meetings and this topic was 400 day clocks with window apertures to view the pendulums. The end of year celebration for the committee was held at Past President Howard Bate and Wendy Bates house. Michael Smith makes a presentation
